Mr. Cain was born and raised in Brooklyn. In 1980, he moved to Woodrow and remained a resident of that community.
He graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn.
He worked as a station agent for the New York City Transit Authority in Brooklyn.
Active for more than 60 years in scouting, he was an assistant troop leader at Troop 160.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and camping. He also enjoyed model trains.
Mr. Cain was a loving uncle to his niece and nephews.
He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth and Douglas.
A graveside service is planned for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn. Arrangements are being handled by Casey-McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills.
