Family Photo STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Robert M. Costello Sr., 63, of Great Kills, a veteran of the U.S. Navy who worked in the field of security, died of lung cancer Tuesday in Staten Island University Hospital, Prince's Bay.
Born in Queens, Mr. Costello moved to in Westerleigh in 2000 and to Great Kills in 2007.
He worked for security for the Federal Reserve until retiring in April.
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post in New Dorp.
Mr. Costello was an avid New York Mets fan and enjoyed caring for his pet dog, Odie.
Mr. Costello was a member of the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn.
Surviving are his wife of 15 years, Martie; a son, Robert (Bobby) Jr.; a brother, Michael, and his sister, Palma Costello-Cohen.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Casey-McCallum-Rice South Shore Funeral Home, Great Kills. Arrangements include cremation.
