Robert "Bob" Lagattuta passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 27, 1948, in Staten Island, New York, Robert was a beloved resident of his hometown throughout his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Long Island University and dedicated his career to the NYC Department of Education. Additionally, Robert served his country as a Chinook helicopter mechanic in the U.S. National Guard.
Robert was married to his devoted wife, Toni Lagattuta, for 45 years. Together, they raised three daughters: Danielle Miller, married to Gregg Miller, with whom they have two children, Peyton and Ian; Elena Leverock, married to Dave Leverock, with four children, David, Eva, Ashley, and Charlotte; and Corinne Lagattuta.
He will be remembered as much for his kindness as for his quick and effortless wit. Robert cared deeply and genuinely for the people in his life, always showing up with empathy, integrity, and a steady, guiding honesty. As a husband, father, friend, and leader, he lived his values every day and passed them on to his three daughters, who carry forward his legacy of compassion and strength of character. He taught them that the ability to offer moments of thoughtful levity is a true gift, one that can bring comfort even in life’s most difficult times.
Robert was also known as the best person to watch a baseball game with. With an uncanny eye for the game, he could anticipate a play or make a call 15 to 20 seconds before the announcer, seeing things others simply missed. Watching a game with him wasn’t just fun; it was a masterclass in the sport.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org)
