Rosemary Baratta Regan, 84, of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. Rosemary was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her children including Allison Regan, Donald Regan (Karen Regan), Kimberly Regan Macri, and Tricia Regan, as well as grandchildren Stephanie Macri Tarulli (Nicholas Tarulli), Christine Macri, Donald B. Regan, Alexandra Macri, Michelle Macri, Andrea Regan, and Brian Macri. Rosemary joins her husband, Donald F. Regan, Sr., in eternal life.
Rosemary graduated from Saint Peter’s Elementary and High School. She attended Wagner College where she received her nursing degree. She started her career at the old Staten Island Hospital on Castleton Ave before moving to Seaview Ave. She worked on medical/surgical floors, the neurology unit, and finished her career working with the American Parkinson Disease Association.
While her children attended school, Rosemary was active in the Sacred Heart Parish council, CCD, baptisimal counseling for new parents and the Saint Monica’s Guild.
It was important to keep her Italian roots and tradition alive as President of the “dudes” - Vinchiaturo Womens’ Association.
Rosemary was a true dog lover- her own, her children’s, and her grandchildren’s. At some gatherings, dogs outnumbered the people.
She had a green thumb - infamous for her vegetable garden, especially caring for her tomatoes, basil and cucumbers. There was no plant that couldn’t be saved.
Cooking was a passion for Rosemary. Every Sunday she cooked meatballs and pasta for Sunday dinner with all her “chickens” around the table, as well as many of their friends whom she welcomed as extended family. Growing up as an only child, she felt joy in a busy house.
Rosemary loved to travel with her late husband, Don, including road trips to Florida, RVing through the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Parks as well as cruising to Alaska and the Caribbean. The Disney cruise with her children and grandchildren to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with Don was one of her most proud and treasured memories.
Some of her favorite stories to reminisce are: cocktail hour and warm summer nights on her back porch with friends and family playing her favorite games Rummikub and Cribbage, reading library books with a cup of coffee as the sun rose, doing NYT crossword puzzles by the pool, walking barefoot and sinking her feet into the sand at the beach.
Spending time with her family and friends was the most important thing to her. She treasured having her grandchildren around her, sharing her experiences and being up to date on their happenings. Friends were considered cousins and always welcome in her house where the side door is always open. Her strength, warmth, and love will continue to resonate in the lives of those who knew her.
