Born in Manhattan, he was brought to Annadale as a boy in 1924. He later settled in Dongan Hills.
Mr. Maggio served in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of corporal.
He worked as a carpenter for the city Parks Department, and retired in 1981.
Mr. Maggio was a member of the American Legion and the AARP.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Maggio was a parishioner of St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Dongan Hills.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, the former Josephine Pasquilini; his son, Dominic; his daughter, Madlyn Eicholtz; a brother, Jerome; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday from Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
