

Lifelong West Brighton resident Walter O. Ettinger a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend died July 13th at home.
Walter graduated from McKee High School. He then worked for Consolidated Electric until he
retired. He is a 60 year member of Local 3 IBEW. At a recent luncheon which he attended with
his son, Scott, he received his 60 year award and pin. He most enjoyed the years that he
worked in the Gulf and Western building at Columbus Circle.
He was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon,
Trustee, Sunday school teacher and head of Sunday school. He remained an integral member
of the church until recent health issues forced him to slow down.
Walter was a proud member of Beacon Light Lodge 701 for close to 40 years, following in the
footsteps of his father, Albert Ettinger Sr. During that time he received prestigious awards such
as Dedicated Service Award, Mason of the Year and Outstanding Service recipient.
Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved traveling and being at his
camper in Adamstown, PA. He was always known for his generosity and caring nature. He was
there to help anyone in need. Walter had a happy, boisterous personality that endeared him to
everyone he met.
Walter is survived by his 3 children, Eric Ettinger, Jill Ettinger Pagliettini and Scott Ettinger,
his son-in-law Robert Pagliettini and daughter-in-law Kerri McDonald Ettinger and 7
grandchildren, Kiersten, Erin and Alexis Ettinger, Austin and Tristan Pagliettini and Nathan and
Leila Ettinger. He is also survived by his brother-in-law James Aaanonsen and his wife Irene. He
will be missed by his longtime friend and companion Margaret Wegener.
Walter is predeceased by his wife Vicki Aanonsen Ettinger, his parents Albert and Ruth
Ettinger, brother Albert Ettinger Jr. and daughter-in-law Carolyn Wholihan Ettinger.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday 7/19 7-9PM, Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 at Harmon Home for
Funerals. There will be a Masonic service there Wednesday evening at 7:30PM. The funeral
service will be Thursday at 10:30 AM in the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton. Burial
will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
