
Caroline Hampton Lowndes Mann McMillan embarked on her last Uncle Wiggily adventure on the 22nd of March 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Dr. James Lee McMillan, Junior; twin daughters Caroline Hampton Preston McMillan and Margaret Coleman Ross McMillan; sisters Sarah Spencer Mann and Susan Adger Mann Levy; and mother-in-law Geraldine Mathis McMillan. She was the daughter of the late The Rev. Dr. Gordon Hossley Mann and Caroline Hampton Mullally Ladue Mann of Charleston, South Carolina.
Mrs. McMillan was a devoted and caring wife and mother, and a generous, thoughtful friend. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Statesboro, Georgia and of the Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid knitter and was extraordinarily talented at smocking and sewing, jewelry making and painting. There wasn’t a craft she couldn’t do well! She served as a legal assistant in Opelika, Alabama, and as an academic advisor and administrative assistant at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.
The family would like to acknowledge the kind, loving, and capable care Mrs. McMillan received from the Ogeechee Area Hospice team, both at home and at the Nancy Bryant Hospice House. They were a blessing to Mrs. McMillan and her family. The family is also grateful for the many friends who offered their care and support.
Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 4401 Country Club Road, Statesboro, Georgia on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at two o’clock in the afternoon, followed by a reception at the church. Graveside services for immediate family will be held at St. Philips Church, 142 Church Street, Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday, April 5, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mrs. McMillan’s memory to Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo Street, Statesboro, Georgia 30458.
