

Mr. Claude N. "Joey" Sapp Jr., age 66, died early Tuesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a longtime resident of Bulloch County and graduated from Marvin Pittman High School and Southern Business University in Atlanta. Mr. Sapp retired from Georgia Public Broadcasting as a Chief Engineer after 25 years of service. Mr. Sapp was an avid amateur radio operator and held an extra class license with a call sign of NC4D. He was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Sapp was preceded in death by his parents, Claude N. Sapp Sr. and Donnease Bird Sapp.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Angela Mock Sapp of Statesboro; his children, Jason (Lynn) Sapp of Portal, Jeremy Sapp of Savannah and Lori Sapp of Statesboro; three grandchildren, Denny, Cassy and Jaci Sapp, all of Portal; and his beloved cat, Skittles.
Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore with Rev. Larry Bird and Elder Randy Waters officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Danny Carver, Richard Harvey, Casey Brown, Carl Bird, Russell Pierce and Christopher Ivey.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Statesboro Amateur Radio Society and Joe Ray.
Interment will be in the Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
