

Mrs. Doris Futch Brown passed away at home on Friday January 13, 2017 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, care taker, and foster parent to over 100 children throughout the years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, tending to her yard and was an excellent cook. For over 45 years she served the Lord as a pastor’s wife for her husband, Reverend James C. Brown, pastor of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Brooklet . She was very involved and dedicated in assisting and working alongside him as he pastored his church and community. Mrs. Brown was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and sister who loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Maggie Kicklighter Futch; sisters, Vivian Hendrix, Dean Smith and Loise McCain; brothers, Charley Futch and Jimmy Futch.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 68 years, Reverend James C. Brown, Brooklet; daughter, Pat (Emory) Roberts, Brooklet, Margie (Jimmy) Sanders, Brooklet, and Brenda (Donnie) Ussery, Statesboro; sons, Jimmy (Nell) Brown, Soperton, Tommy (Tracey) Brown, Statesboro; sister, Martha Strickland, Claxton; 10 grandchildren , 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening 5-8 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Reverends Lawrence Butler, Jack Stafford, and Leland Jeffers officiating. Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pall bearers will be Dean Roberts, Tony Roberts, Matt Aldrich, Don Ussery, Dwayne Rodgers, Kevin Brown, Wil Brown and Cody Nesmith.
