
James Fletcher Stokes, Jr., age 74, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 in Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
James was born and raised in Birmingham, AL where he attended local school. He moved to Statesboro 20 years ago and currently resided in Newington.
James served six years in the United States Marine Corps and worked for many years as a sheet metal worker in the heating and air conditioning industry with Crown Products.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Fletcher Stokes, Sr. and Beulah Mae Morrow Stokes and his wife of 52 years, Mary Louise Stokes.
Mr. Stokes is survived by his daughters, Cindy Knopf and her husband, Rex of Brooklet and Barbara Bunch and her husband, Brant of Statesboro; sons, Mike Imhoff and his wife, Tammy of Beaumont, TX; Billy Stokes of Statesboro and David Stokes of Augusta; sisters, Joann Gammon of Horn Lake, MS and Barbara Goss of Pensacola, FL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
