Joan Marie Frevert Austin

Joan was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Miami for 41 years before moving to Statesboro in 2001. While in Miami, Joan worked for and retired from Lord and Taylor and Jordan Marsh department stores and was a member of the Propeller Club. In Statesboro, Joan was a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir and was an animal lover, caring for all creatures great and small. Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, James A. McCall, Jr. and Stephen H. Austin, daughter, Karen Anne Schoffield, brothers, Donald Frevert and William Frevert.

She is survived by son, James Joseph McCall, Sr. and his wife, Jan of Statesboro, sister, Ruth Mummery of Westbury, NY, 4 grandchildren, James Joseph McCall, Jr. and his wife, Saralyn of Midland, TX; Michael William McCall; Melissa Ann McCall and Mathew Steven McCall and his wife, Megan all of Statesboro, 3 great grandchildren, Amanda, Rebecca and Olivia McCall, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5:00 -7:00 PM Sunday, December 1, in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Monday, December 2, in St. Mathews Catholic Church with Father Douglas K. Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be James Joseph McCall, Jr., Michael William McCall, Mathew Steven McCall and David Hendrix.
