

Mrs. Laura Margaret Brady Godbee, age 84, died Friday August 5, 2011 under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native of Bulloch County was the daughter of the late Remer L. Brady and Kittie Turner Brady.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, John F. Godbee, Sr. of Statesboro; one son and daughter-in-law, John F. Jr. and Carole Godbee of Brooklet, Ga.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lynn Morlock of Atlanta and Kittie and David Prosser of Statesboro. She is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses, Wesley and Amy Godbee of Brooklet, Holly and Josh Greeson of Brooklet, Chad and Jennifer Prosser of Statesboro, Drew and Andrea Prosser of Augusta, Melissa and Brent Ziarnick of Elephant Butte, NM, and Lauren and Rudy Cortjens of Atlanta; one brother and sister-in-law, Remer L. and Nell Brady of Savannah, GA; two sisters-in-law, Sara Elizabeth Rabun of Charlotte, NC, and Virginia Godbee of Sardis, GA, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Laura Margaret graduated from Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon and Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro where she received her B.S., Masters and Education Specialist Degrees. She taught in Statesboro schools for thirty one years. She was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, the Dan Williams Sunday School Class and the Dreta Sharp Circle. She was a member of the D.A.R., the Evergreen Garden Club, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Statesboro Regional Library.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:30 until 2:45 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Statesboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Wesley Godbee, Josh Greeson, Chad Prosser, Drew Prosser and Rudy Cortjens. Also serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Waters and Max Manack.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Dan Williams Sunday School Class, members of the Evergreen Garden Club, and members of her special circle of friends in “The Birthday Club.”
The family is especially appreciative of the loving care and compassionate assistance she received from the caregivers at Willow Pond and Ogeechee Area Hospice.
