
Mary Jo Dyson Neville, age 68, passed away after a short illness on January 16, 2016. She was born August 31, 1947 in Wilkes County, Ga., the only child of Joseph R. Dyson, Jr. and Mabelle S. Dyson. Mary Jo was a 1965 graduate from Wilkes County High School. She attended Young Harris College and Georgia Southern College where she earned a six year degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1969. After college she married her true love, Don Neville. The couple settled in Statesboro, Ga. where they spent their entire married life together. She served as a teacher at Portal Elementary School. After retiring, Mary Jo volunteered her time with the Auxiliary of East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She was an avid scrapbook maker and loved to spend her free time fishing. Mary Jo also loved to dance. She and Don were long time members of the Good Timers Line Dancing Group. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro and the Bulloch Retired Educators Association. She is predeceased by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Don Neville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene O. Neville, Jr. (Natalie), John Phillip Neville (Susan)and a sister and brother-in law, Lenora Dimling (John); cousins, Barbara, Frank, Jean, Nancy; a Godson, James Hardin, IV; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 from 11a.m.-12 p.m. at Statesboro First Baptist Church on Main Street with the funeral following at noon officiated by Dr. John Waters. Burial will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Parrish Neville, Rawls Neville, Justin Neville, Lane Ward, James Hardin, IV, and Jacob Brannen. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Care Sunday School Class and the Good Timers Line Dancing Group.
The Neville Family would like express a special thank you to the physicians, nurses and staff of St. Joseph/Candler Hospital’s Neuro ICU for all of their kindness and excellent care given to Mary Jo during her illness.
