

She was born in Iredell County on August 18, 1918, daughter of the late James M. Goble and Lena Hoke Goble. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lorene G. Ramsey and Mrs. Lois N. Karn of Statesville; and one brother, James Ray Goble of Charlotte. She was preceded in death by a brother, Vance E. Goble.
She grew up in the West Iredell area and graduated from Sharon High School on May 2, 1935. On May 25, 1935 she eloped with James Pressley Reese, Sr. to York, SC. They moved to Washington, D.C. soon thereafter and spent 35 years there. They shared 76 wonderful years together before he passed on May 26, 2011. They had one child, James Pressley Reese, Jr., who survives.
Mrs. Reese worked for the FBI and the CIA in Langley, VA before retiring on December 28, 1973 after 23 years of proud service. They returned home to the West Iredell area in 1974. She was an active member of New Sterling ARP Church.
She is survived by her son, James P. (Jim) Reese, Jr. and wife Susie; two grandchildren, Diane Reese Padgett and husband William, David Crist Reese and wife Stephanie; three great-granddaughters, Reagan Elizabeth Padgett, Annie Kathryn Padgett, and Emilie Suzanne Reese who will all desperately miss their MaMa.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at New Sterling ARP Church with Dr. Earl Linderman and the Rev. Tim Watson officiating, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brian Goble, Bryan Freeman, Richard Karn, Jim Mayhew, Richard Charles, William (Billy) Reese, Roy Lee Little, and David Brady. Honorary pallbearers are nephew John Blackwell and the Deacons and Elders of New Sterling ARP Church.
Memorials may be given to New Sterling ARP Church, Building Fund, 580 New Sterling Road, Stony Point, NC 28678; or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
