A native of Iredell County, he is the son of David Brian Cooper (Melinda) of Hickory and Beth Pendergrass Parker (McClain) of Mocksville. He was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He also was a frequent contributor to the Iredell Firewire.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Ashley Cooper; sons, Travis and Wade Cooper; brother, Kris Young (Jessica) of Statesville and Lance Cpl. Cody Parker (Jordan) of Camp Lejeune; sisters, Jennifer White (Andrew) of Bermuda Run and Emily Cooper of Hickory. Also surviving are his grandparents, Bruce and Myra Cooper of Naples, Florida and John and Bonnie Pendergrass of Plymouth, NC. Several beloved nieces and nephews also survive him.
Brian Cooper was an amazing father, husband, son, and friend. His family was his world and his most important goal in life was that they were safe and happy. He was a protector. To his sons, he made sure that they knew they were loved and guided them into the young men they were growing up to become. To his wife, he was her best friend, her wind beneath her wings, the person who believed in her more than she believed in herself. To his family, he was they person they could always go to when they needed help.
He was smart, witty, silly, and a little on the sarcastic side at times. He was a master of so many trades. He loved building and fixing anything. He loved to grill and smoke meats. He loved to work on cars and ride his motorcycle and was always everyone's tech guy when something went wrong… so many things.
Brian was one of the most specifically kind people I have ever known. He wouldn't just see or hear of someone struggling and say that he should do something; he would actually send a message, go to help. If he saw a need or a friend who was hurting, Brian would go and do something about it. He wanted to make people happy. He was the man that stopped on the side of the road to help someone in trouble and did many times.
It's hard to sum up a life in a few sentences but Brian touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. He was loved so much by so many, and will be missed and remembered by his family, friends, and the community.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Broad Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mary John Dye and the Rev. Jan Brittain officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Memorial Hall.
