Carl Lesley Brittain

He was born November 11, 1930, in Catawba County and was the son of the late Carl Lesley and Mellie Short Frye. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Medical Corp and served in a military hospital in Panama during the Korean War. He was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and was a graduate of Appalachian State University. He was a teacher at Statesville High School for a couple years and was a retired insurance agent with Nationwide Insurance. He was an avid golfer and sportsman and loved ACC basketball, especially the Carolina Tar Heels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Foy Brittain; and a son, Robert Brittain.

He is survived by his wife, Rinda Edwards Brittain, whom he married on August 25, 1956; a daughter, Susan Brittain of Mooresville; a son, Michael Brittain of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Colin Davis III and Matthew Davis both of Mooresville and Chelsea Davis of Greenville, NC; his dog, Lily; and his cat, Molly.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery.
