Connie was born November 16, 1946 to Bryan and Margaret Drum. She graduated from Scotts High School in 1965 and in 1968 received her RN from Lowrance Hospital in Mooresville NC. She worked as a nurse in Lancaster SC until she married Newton Jones Jr. of Richmond Va. They raised there two children Chris and Becky in Richmond. When the kids were on their own, Connie and Newton moved to Kernersville, NC where she worked and retired from Cone health as an infection control professional. Connie was an avid Duke fan and attended several Final Fours.She was very active in her church and also a past president of APIC a National Infection control organization.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years Newton, her son Chris and wife Kim, her daughter Becky and 3 grandsons Leeroy, Bryan and Christopher, and two brothers Jim Drum of Seven Devil's NC and Mike Drum of Greensboro, NC. She will be missed by all of us.
A visitation will be held at Monticello United Methodist Church on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be privately held at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln,. Winson-Salem, NC 27103.
