Born on February 26, 1933 in Iredell County, she was the daughter to the late Hugh and Chloe Byers Sharpe. She loved to bake, especially her brownies and loved to watch TV. Doris was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ and loved serving God and her Church family. She assisted with the church’s Bible correspondence courses which included various prisons in North Carolina. She oversaw sending flowers to church members that were sick or passed on. Doris loved to send various cards to church members that were shut-in, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc… She particularly enjoyed her Sunday’s lunch with her family.
In addition to her parents Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Ellenburg Sr.; brothers, Ernest and Johnny Sharpe.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her two daughters, Debbie Ellenburg Davidson and Cindy (Lee) Bumgarner; son, Billy (Debbie) Ellenburg, Jr.; grandchildren, Traci (Joe) Burriss, Amy (Britt) Brookshire, Kerri (Alan) Williams, Ashley (Ryan) Goodson, Lauren Bumgarner and Courtney Bumgarner; great-grandchildren, Joseph Burriss, Matthew Burriss, Jay Brookshire, Bella Brookshire and Bear Williams; sisters, Peggy Hollar and Joyce (Johnny) Rhyne and many other loving family members.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Broad Street Church of Christ. Burial will be private and follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
