Born on August 9, 1933 in New York, he was the son of the late Olaf and Evelyn Olsen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Olsen.
Ernest worked as a structural engineer for Arnold Steel in New Jersey for over 35 years. He honorably served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bridge and golf. He also loved reading, especially reading the Bible, and was a fan of politics.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 21 years, Tina A. Olsen; daughter, Debbie (James) Nolan, Susan (Scott) McVey, and Lori (Tom) Hudson; step-daughter, Lisa Melchione; step-son, Anthony (Brandi) Porcelli; sister-in-law, Jan Olsen, and twelve grandchildren, all who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held in the chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ervel Jones officiating. Full military honors will be presented.
