Born to Gurney Nathaniel Cranfill and Versie Emaline Reavis Cranfill on September 25, 1933, Harvey was a graduate and Senior Class President of Cool Springs High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps, serving our country in the Korean War and was the recipient of the National Defense and Good Conduct Medals. After being discharged from the Marines, he continued his commitment of service over the years in various ways throughout his community. Most recently, he was a member of the Troutman Church of God and initiated the Food Bank at the Church which is currently serving over 300 families.
Harvey was a lifelong entrepreneur, he began in the career of Finance, establishing offices in the Southeastern Region; was a building contractor for Iredell and surrounding counties; and a Restauranteur-owning may establishments over the years, the last being Old Hickory BBQ in Harmony, NC. Even during his years of retirement, he picked up a new hobby of photography, photographing and creating virtual tours of real estate properties that were currently on the market.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Clower Cranfill; his daughters: Tamara Cranfill Bethea, Tracy Cranfill (Stevie) Milholand and Scotti Cranfill (Billy) Holman; grandchildren: Chasity White, Dustin Leshock, Justin Godfrey, Joshua Talley, Steven Talley, Megan Starnes, Jesse Holman, Emily Starnes, Jacob Holman; great-grandchildren: Melody Wilson and Jaelynn White; and by his sister, Jeanette Cranfill Engle. A host of nephews, nieces and friends also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son: Michal “Michael Lee” Holsclaw.
Funeral services will be held at the Troutman Church of God on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to service.
