

Born May 30, 1925 in Wilkes County, she was the daughter of the late Barney Gray Byrd and Minnie Jolly Byrd.
Mrs. Brown retired from Jantzen and was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.
She loved spending time with her family, as they were her pride and joy. Mrs. Brown was always thoughtful of others. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and wanted to bring a smile to all she knew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Poe Shaver, whom she married on August 26, 1944. He passed away February 9, 1979; her second husband, Earl William Brown, who she married May 19, 1984. He passed away on March 10, 2009; six brothers, Russell, Odell, Marvin, Andrew, Walter and Jack Byrd; two sisters, Mary Jolly, and Peggy Tucker and one step-daughter, Rachel Rumple.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Wanda (Rayford) Myers, Carol (Tim) Reid, and Patricia (L.P) Dishmond; one step-son, Bill (Ann) Brown, one step-daughter, Janie Clontz; one brother, Glenn Byrd; seven grandchildren, Julie (John) Duchinski, Matt (Jodi) Myers, Scott (Pam) Reid, Perry Reid and his fiancée Kellie, Amy Reid, Kim (Ricky) Welborn, and Brandon (Christina) Dishmond; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the Westmoreland Chapel at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Carl Williams and Rev. Jeff Luxon officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Reid, Lane Reid, Perry Reid, Matt Myers, Brandon Dishmond and John Duchinski.
