Born in Iredell County on July 17, 1945, he was the son to the late James Sharpe and Ethel Goble Sharpe. Jerry was a veteran in the United States Army. He retired from Southern Railroad and Carolina Drilling. He enjoyed a lifetime of hunting, fishing and watching racing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and making others laugh.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by grandson, Justin Sharpe; brother, JD, Hoyt, Jack and Frank Sharpe and sisters, Geneva Beam and Shirley Reed.
On March 13, 1986 he married the former Ann Wiseman who survives. Also surviving are a son, Wayne (Barbie) Sharpe; daughters, Traci Sharpe McNeely and Jennifer Sharpe (Jason Bowers); four step children, Debbie (Byron) Henderson, Jill Addison, Cary (Edie) Addison and Dean (Derek) Addison, 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Patsy Butler and Rena Spence; sister-in-laws, Lois, Shirley and Peg, wonderful Nieces and Nephews and his loving pet, Danner.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11am in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am at the funeral home prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made in Jerry Sharpe’s name to Avery Creek UMC Men’s Club 874 Glenbridge Road Arden, North Carolina 28704.
