

He was born May 4, 1977, in Winston-Salem, and was the son Dewey and Mary Lyon Shelton. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in business from Gardner-Webb University and was a network engineer with Lowe’s Home Improvement. He was an active member at South River Baptist Church where he was a member of the Young Married Sunday school class. Prior to moving to Statesville, he was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church in Wilkesboro, NC, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography. Craig was a godly, Christian man, husband, and father whose life motto was “Give God the Glory.”
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Misty Callaway Shelton, whom he married on March 27, 1999; a daughter, Emma Grace Shelton; a son, Evan Joseph Shelton, all of the home; his parents, Dewey and Mary L. Shelton of Traphill; a brother, Doug Shelton of Winston-Salem; his maternal grandfather, Roy Lyon of Thurman; and his parents-in-law, Johnny and Judy Callaway of Ronda.
Funeral services celebrating Craig’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Hampton Drum officiating. Burial will follow at Ronda Cemetery in Ronda, NC.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
