

She was born October 6, 1924, in Statesville and was the daughter of the late Clyde B. and Florence Woodfin Lackey. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church where she had served as Elder, Past President, Vice-President and Circle Chairman of the Women’s of the church and received life membership from Women of the Church in 1979. She retired from Southern Bell and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a former member of the Statesville Junior Service League and Past President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Women’s Civic Club of Statesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Reid Summers, whom she married on January 18, 1947; a son, William Reid Summers, Jr.; and a sister, Juanita L. Kunkle.
She is survived by a son, Mark S. Summers and his wife, Casie; a grandson, Stone Dyson, all of Statesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service celebrating Louise’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
