I wish to express my condolences to the family on this tragic loss.  Words seem insufficient at this difficult time.  We all need comfort when a loved one dies.  May you find real comfort and relief from our heavenly Father, family and friends; and as a result, begin to recover gradually from the pain. Love from those around you will help you through the days ahead. The precious memories of your loved one will bring you comfort.

I did not know this handsome fellow 
Marcus, but his smile gave me instant warmth and I felt the love of God in him.  My words can not describe how my heart felt about this unfortunate matter, but may these words of God comfort you: "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever." 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

To the family:

May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts as you cherish the many fond memories.

While I  did not know this handsome young man, looking at his picture, his face radiates with such kindness and gentleness  I, a complete stranger, wishes to let you know how my heart is  sad  you have lost a son, brother, husband,and grandson. It is unimaginable. , May the strength of the Lord  lift you up physically and spiritually, to help you through your days of pain and unbelief. If I could ease your pain, I would.  As days and months pass by, and it is difficult to find a place within you that doesn't hurt, may the Lord pour His soothing balm upon you and kiss your brow and help you to remember Marcus lives. Such joy will be with you when his baby comes. To his wife, your heart is broken but your baby will help it heal. You will miss Marcus. I believe he will see you and be with you and the baby. For you, his wife, you will be strengthened in your weakness and God will use you in a mighty way in his kingdom.   Marcus's situation will bring glory to God and to his family. God bless each of you. I am sincerely saddened.

It is heart breaking to lose a loved one in such a tragic way. Soon violence will no longer plaque the earth. Instead it will be replaced with peace. Psalms 37:11 Until that time take comfort in knowing that God cares for you.

So very sorry for your loss.  I know this is a difficult time and pray you will find strength in your coming days.  Prayers for you, your baby and families.

Words cannot express my sincere grief for your loss of your precious son. May you find peace in those you surround yourself with...and may the Love of God fill the empty parts left in your hearts. "Weeping may endure for a night...but there is joy in the morning"...May you find that joy only God can give. A brave man has been lost, but not forgotten.

It can be so hard to face the new year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.

This is a horrendous loss....a public servant...a family man.  Be assured all the community are grieving with you today.   May God richly bless each one.

I am so sorry for the tragic  loss of Marcus .Death   can make it  difficult to " carry on as usual" . Perhaps this will help. At Psalm 56:8 David pleaded to God: "Do put my tears in your skin bottle. Are they not in your book? Like David I know that God  is aware of your pain and whatever you are going through emotionally. .. let him help you he knows what you need. (Jeremiah 29:12) . . .And YOU will certainly call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to YOU.

My deepest sympathy goes out to family and friends, may God's Word recorded at Psalms 18:2 comfort you during this difficult time.

Although I don't know you personally, may the God of all comfort be with you, your friends and family during this difficult time in your life. We all yearn for better conditions. It is refreshing to know that God's word speaks of a time when all sorrows will be gone and that mankind will live in beautiful surroundings with nothing to fear.- Isaiah 65:17,21-24, will shed light on this.

I do not personally know the Kauffman family. I live in Mecklenburg County. I want the family to know our Prayers and Blessings are with the family members. God is still in control.Don't let your hearts be troubled. I go to prepare a place for you.

We were very sorry to hear that Marco lost his life.  He was a very young man with a lot of life left in him.  However, our family understands this pain.  We lost out son at age 22, in Iraq - he was in the Army.  He left a beautiful wife and 5 siblings and devastated parents.  Without our faith we would not have made it this far.  God is our refuge and we will be praying for you all that He will be your comfort and peace of mind.  This is a very tough time and it doesn't get much easier fast - time does help but it doesn't remove the event that has changed your life forever. My First Christmas in Heaven

I see the countless beauties around the world below.
With tiny lights like heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, Please wipe away your tear.
For I'm spending Christmas with Jesus this Year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But that music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.
I have not words to tell you the joy their voices bring-
For it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain in your heart,
But I'm not so far away; we're really not so far apart.
So be happy for me, my family; you know I hold you dear.
And be glad that I'm spending Christmas with Jesus this year.

Please love and keep each other, as our Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessings or love, He has for each of you.
So have a happy Christmas, and wipe away that tear,
Because remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

Dear Kauffman Family,
It's very hard to bear the loss of someone so dear. Although there is little that one can say or do to take away all your pain, please know that your family are in the thoughts and prayers of many. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I heart breaks for his wife but also his mom and dad. It is a pain like no other I have been there and know the pain my son is with Jesus also. May God be with each of you in the days weeks and years to come he is the only hope we have and He was there for me, had it not been for him I dont know where i would be today But because He told me he would never leave me and he didnt when I needed him most. Maryann, God has given you angel to come as your angel left! I have never lost a spouse but to Marcos parents my 21 year old son was MURDERED on July 20, 2013. I pray this little guy will bring you joy and may you see gods grace in the eyes of your baby! To the parents I know how you feel just be great full they got the creeps off the streets before it happened again. Marco Kauffman will always be a name of a super man to think quickly enough to take you and you lil guy to safety! May Gods grace help you get through these dark days ahead! Out son Daniel wasn't fortunate enough to leave a mini Daniel so enjoy you guy when he gets here and make sure you print all you can to show him when he's old enough to understand! I only know Marcus and his family through facebook. I have been praying as so many others for this young man and his family. I don't know Marcus or MaryAnn.  I only heard of this awful tragedy through the news and Facebook.  My heart literally breaks for them especially his wife.  I've wiped more tears than I can count since I've learned of this.  Your family will forever be in my thoughts.

I prayed daily, throughout the day since December 2nd. I drew so much closer to God. I understand better, I think, what it means to trust God completely. Your family taught me this and so much more. I have been following this story daily on the local news. It saddens my heart to know that this young man lost his precious life thru such a senseless tragedy. My prayers are with his wife and family. May God comfort you and give you peace during this difficult time.
