
Mary Ruth Kiser, of Statesville, passed away on her 93rd birthday, Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was a loving mother who spread joy and love to all who knew her. She loved her God, her family and her church. She was born Jan. 27, 1918, to Walter B. and Nannie Johnson Kiser. She was a resident of Virginia for many years where she raised her family of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her first husband Frank Wolfe, her second husband the Rev. Homer Kiser and two daughters, Judith Carol Kiser and Lola Kiser Couch. She is survived by five sons, Harry Wolfe and wife, Loretta, of Kingsport, Tenn., Jerry Kiser, and wife, Joni, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Ronald Kiser, and wife, Annette, of Troutman, Mark Kiser, and wife, Traci, and Shannon Kiser, both of Statesville; five daughters, Mary Harkey and husband, Clyde, of Cleveland, Jewell Kiser, of the home, and her friend, Martin Whitaker, of Salisbury, Kay Parker, of Cleveland, and her friend, Brown McCoy, of Statesville, Ann Ruth, and husband, Scott, both of Statesville, and Donna Porter, and husband, Gary, of Troutman. A brother, James V. Kiser, of Statesville; a sister, Mollie Kiser, of Lebanon, Va., 14 grandchildren, ten great-grand-children, and one great-great-grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. They will also receive friends on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castle-wood, Va. The body will not lie in state. Graveside services will take place at the Kiser Family Cemetery, Hazel Mountain, above Dante, Va., immediately following the visitation. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
