

He was born September 28, 1929, in Wilkes County and was the son of the late John Thurman and Cordie Ashley Wyatt. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Kewaunee Corporation. He was a man who loved his family dearly and enjoyed bird watching and trout fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzy Wyatt and Mae Joines; and two brothers, Robert Ashley and Rantson Wyatt.
He is survived by a daughter, Marlene Jacobson and her husband, Marc Jacobson, of Newton; a son, Mayford Kenneth Wyatt and his wife, Teresa Johnson Wyatt, of Harmony; five grandchildren, Jason Kenneth Wyatt and his wife, Madison Shinn Wyatt, of Clemmons, Terry Edward Johnson and his wife, Amy Johnson, Angela Robin Wyatt and her fiancée, Joshua Harris Wooten, Amber Michelle Cash and Nicholas Todd Cash, all of Statesville; four great-grandchildren, Meredith Lynette Johnson, Elizabeth Paige Johnson, Jayda Olivia Burchette and Kaydence Gabrielle Stokes, all of Statesville; a sister, Lou Ella Sheets of N. Wilkesboro; and a brother, Thurman J. Wyatt of N. Wilkesboro.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Iredell Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ervel Jones officiating with military honors being accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
