Ruth Hill Guy

Ruth Hill Guy, 96, a long-time resident of Statesville and Mooresville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2016 at Carillon Assisted Living in Knightdale, NC. She had been residing in Knightdale for the last several years.

Born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on December 8, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Hill and Charlotte Eddleman Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Carl Hill and Clyde Hill; her loving husband, William Lee Guy, whom she married on November 27, 1938. He passed away in 1970, and one granddaughter, Lisa Milburn.

Mrs. Guy graduated from Conshohocken High School and attended Catawba College. She spent 31 years as secretary at Statesville Senior High School, retiring in 1983.

Ruth was very active at Broad Street United Methodist Church. She and her husband were original members of the Friendly Forum Sunday School class, and later in the Primetimers Class.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, William Hill Guy and Diane of Wendell, NC; daughter, Carole Guy Doyle of Waleska, GA; four grandchildren, Deborah Doyle, Robert Doyle, Joseph and Sheila Strange, and James and Rebecca Strange; and seven great-grandchildren, Catharine and Chris Jordan, Deborah Lynne Doyle, Max Doyle, Zachary Strange, Alex Strange, Baylor Strange and Salem Strange.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, January 6, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kenneth Sides officiating.

The family request that instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Primetimers Ministry c/o Broad Street United Methodist Church P.O. Box 169 Statesville, NC 28687.
