Born on April 6, 1935 in Iredell County he was the son of late Deacon Avery and Mrs. Linnie Wilson. He was a loving and caring husband, father and Paw Paw. William loved to drive trucks, gardening, and working with his tractor. He had his own hauling service and drove for several companies, and later retired from Food Lion after 18 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by 6 siblings; brothers, George Wilson, Tommie Lee Wilson, David Wilson, John Wilson Sr., and sister, Betsy Wilson.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Frances Wilson; children, Frances Elaine Rankin, Faye Holbrook (Louis), Wanda Steele (Cedric), Andrea Houston (Melvin), Demetra Saddler (Ricky); 13 grandchildren, Nicole Rankin, Ninya Holbrook, LarMarr Rankin (Jasma), Cameron Holbrook (Britteny), Whitney Steele, Quintin Houston, Devin Saddler, Cedric Steele, Quaylin Houston, Tavion Saddler, Tamika Chew (Frank), Makeya Brown, Aaliyah Jackson; seven great-grandchildren, Kaleel Hooper, Zoe Holbrook, Jastin Ikard, Willow Rankin, Tommy Anderson, Tiffany Anderson and Breyanna Brown; three sisters, Jessie White, Julia Mae Wilson, Amanda Norman (Charles); Frances' family and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
A home going service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2pm at Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland NC, with officiant, Reverend David Leaven and eulogist, Bishop Terry Cherry. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors, prior to service at the church from 1-2.
