

He was born April 28, 1934, in Alexander County and was the son of the late Johnny Franklin and Vecie Benge Marlowe. He was a graduate of Central School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a supervisor at Uniglass Industries and a retired poultry famrer. He was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and was former deacon at Yadkin Baptist Church. He was a member of Snow Creek Masonic Lodge #571 where he served as Past Master three times. He was also an honorary member of Stony Point, Grassy Knob, and Liberty (Wilkesboro) Masonic Lodges. He was former President of the Central Elementary PTA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Little Marlow, whom he married on March 2, 1957.
He is survived by seven children, Carol Ciampanella (Eddie), Jimmy Dale Marlow, Steven Flynn Marlow (Dana Harvey), Morris Dwayne Marlow (Lori) and Pamela Marlow Sprinkle (Allen) all of Statesville, Marilyn Marlow Eudy (Mitchell) of Monroe, and Lois Marlow West (Michael) of Matthews; fifteen grandchildren, Roman Marlow, Virginia Eudy, Morgan Eudy, Abigail Eudy, Madelyn Eudy, Stephanie Marlow, Courtney Marlow, J.R. Marlow, Brittany Marlow, Kelsi Marlow, Caroline West, Daniel West, Elizabeth Haynes Patterson (Randall), Christopher Haynes, and Benjamin Haynes; great-grandchildren, Hunter Marlow, Chase Stuber, Zachary and Kasianna Patterson; a sister, Dorothy Marlowe Reep (Hassill) of Statesville; and very special friend, Amy Houston.
Funeral services celebrating Yates’ life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Cook, Jr. officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic rites being accord by the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge #571.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Friday evening at Rocky Hill Baptist Church and at other times will be at the residence.
