Obituary of Denyse Morin Radoiu
Denyse Morin Radoiu, of Staunton, Virginia passed away on the 21st of June at the Bright View Living Facility in Staunton. Ms Radoiu was born on the 30th of November 1933 in Montmorency, Quebec, Canada. One of seven children, she was the first born daughter of Dr Emile and Aline Dupont Morin and received her secondary education at the St Gregoire Catholic School under the instruction of the religious sisters. After graduation, she enrolled in secretarial school and worked for several years before meeting her future husband, Dr Nicolas Radoiu. They were married on the 22nd of June 1955, immigrated to the United States and settling down in Detroit, Michigan. Upon her arrival in Detroit, she worked as a secretary for the Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Company. After the birth of her two children (Michael and Christine), she left work to become a stay at home mother. In 1965, she enrolled at Wayne State University in the College of Social Work. Upon receiving her Masters degree in 1973, she began a long and successful career as a social worker for the Roseville City Schools, the Cottage Hospital and Bon Secours Hospital systems in Grosse Pointe and a Family Counseling practice in St Clair Shores, Michigan. She retired in 2003 and moved to Staunton with her husband in 2006. Ms Radoiu was a dedicated wife, mother and mental health care professional. She was also active in a variety of civic organizations and was especially proud of her work with the League of Women’s Voters and advocating for women’s rights. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and being involved in local politics. She is survived by her two children, Dr Michael Radoiu, CAPT Christine Radoiu-Young (USN-retired), her daughter-in-law, Sharon Radoiu, son-in law, COL Robert Young (USA-retired), three grandchildren (Anthony, Mick and Gabrielle) and six siblings (Claude Morin, Guy Morin, Gilles Morin, Danielle Morin, Gaetane (Nenette) Leclerc and Madeleine (Mado) Morin. A private Mass and family ceremony will be conducted at the family’s home parish of St Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes Staunton Chapel, Staunton, VA.
