Miss Christian was born on August 8, 1924, in Staunton, and was a daughter of the late Walter Scott and Mary Waldrop (Wilson) Christian. She graduated from Erskine College, Due West, SC, in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Eliza began working for the Augusta County School Board on June 18, 1945 and was made Clerk of the Board in 1951. In 1984 she retired with 39 years of service. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church in Staunton.
Eliza is survived by her nieces, Mary Ann (Floyd) Barton and husband Bryan of Oakton, VA, Sarah Floyd Rose of Harrisonburg; great nephews and niece,Tom Barton and wife Mercedes, Jim Barton, Ann Barton, John Rose, Scott Rose; great-great-nephews, William and Thomas Barton; her “country cousins" and many close friends.
In addition to her parents, Miss Christian was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Howard Floyd; an infant brother, Walter Scott Christian, Jr.; and a niece, Elizabeth Parsons Floyd.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14 at 1:00 pm at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
