Mary Sue "Susie" Guffey

Mary Sue Guffey, 67, of Staunton passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Augusta Health.
Born July 3, 1950 in Staunton, she was the daughter of the late Guy Edward and Peggy Lee (Church) Roberts.
Mary Sue was a member of the Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at many area nursing homes. Mary Sue enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, planting flowers and drawing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she as preceded in death by her father-in-law, Basil Arrie Guffey, Sr.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Roy Eugene Guffey; children, Amy Sue Guffey and Christopher Guy Guffey both of Staunton; grandchildren, Jacob Guffey, Hailey Cook, Abigail Ellinger, Rosemary Jean Guffey, April Johnson and Patrick Thompson; great-granddaughter, Kaidynse Johnson; mother-in-law, Clara Slayton Guffey; sister-in-law, Patricia Ann “Sissy” Hiner; brothers-in-law, Basil Arrie Guffey, Jr. and Joseph Wayne Guffey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 2408 Hickory St., Staunton, with Rev. Ethan Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Bryant Clements, Kody Johnson, Wayne Rankin, Nolan Thompson, Wallace Lotts and Christopher Guffey.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions in Mary Sue’s memory to Staunton Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
