Aura Yanez

Aura Yanez, 97, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on March 16, 2026. Aura was lovingly known as Seño. She was beloved, inspirational, resilient, and devoted. Aura will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude by all who knew her.

Born on April 1, 1928, in Monterrey, Mexico, Aura was the only child of Petra and Federico Romero. She attended school in Monterrey and often reflected that she held a “doctorate in the University of Life,” a phrase that captured both her hard-earned wisdom and her steady determination.

Aura was self-made—determined, ever inspiring, and entrepreneurial in spirit. Through resilience and vision, she created Pal's Beauty school of Illinois. Leaving a meaningful mark on her community and on the many lives shaped by her work.

On January 15, 1945, Aura married Napoleon, who passed away in 2009. Together they built a family that became the center of her life. Aura was preceded in death by her children, the late Patricia and Fred. She is survived by her children: Guadalupe, Aura, Nora (Peter), and Carlos (Yvette). She was the grandmother of 25, great-grandmother of 27, and great-great-grandmother of 10—an extraordinary legacy of family that reflects a lifetime of devotion.

Aura found joy in making floral arrangements, visiting the casino, and creating Christmas ornaments—simple pleasures that brought beauty, tradition, and warmth to those around her.

She always told everyone to draw near to the Lord.

Visitation will be held at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on March 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Chapel Funeral Service will take place at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on March 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Family & friends can gather at Mount Auburn Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Mount Auburn Memorial Park, 4101 S Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402, on March 21, 2026.
