I was introduced to Mr. Chung and the entire Chung family through our children.  My impression of him has and always will be of a hard working, intelligent and welcoming man I was in awe of his resilience.  He would come home from his deliveries, work in the restaurant and still have time to continue to educate himself.  You could ask him anything and if he could he gladly shared his knowledge with you and you would listen. I was amazed to find out that he was previously educated in electrical engineering.  He raised his children with those same values.  Their restaurant was a welcoming place filled laughter and plenty of hospitality.  We even got our two favorite pets from them.  Molly and Penelope our little rat terroirs.  They kept escaping though, I think to find their way back to the restaurant for dinner.  Mr. Chung you will be missed and may you rest in peace until we meet again.

Mr. Henry Chung has taken on various roles throughout his life, including that of an electrical engineer at General Electric, a veteran from the United States military, an owner in the restaurant supply company, and a restaurant proprietor.  Unlike others who are professional Microsoft trainers, Henry is a self-taught expert certified in Microsoft software.  While I am uncertain whether he possessed a pair of gym shoes, I was astonished to witness him carry and deliver two hundred-pound bags of rice using only his bare hands and shoulder.  Despite his demanding schedule, he consistently made time to attend family events and care for his grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren.   He possessed a pleasant demeanor, communicated gently, and treated all individuals with respect. Throughout my many years in the United States, he has been one of the few individuals capable of understanding my words and appreciating the humor in my jokes. His success is reflected in the fact that he raised three accomplished children, and his family remained close until his final moments. He will be particularly missed for the Cantonese dim sum fried chicken feet he prepared. May he rest in peace.

Henry is always a great brother-in-law to me.  Henry was a strong, easygoing, and nice person.  He graduated from the University of Illinois Electrical Engineering. He served in the US Marine and National Guard full-time and part-time for more than 4 years. He was a General Electric Medical Supply electrical engineer.  In 1975, he helped me to settle down when I migrated from Hong Kong to America. He took us out for dinner that was how I  first time tasted the steak Filet Mignons.  He took us on a road trip to Toronto Canada.  We visited the CN Tower and Niagara Falls.  I remember he was a strong man.  One time he asked me to help him unload a truckload of 400 bags 100 lbs each bag of rice.  He carried two bags at a time, while I barely could carry one bag at a time. We had a good time and a hard time together.  He is always a great brother-in-law of me.

Mr. Chung was a kind, strong but quiet presence in this world. His smile brought you joy and boy, did he know how to make THE BEST Chinese food!! His beef and mushroom was out of this world and never have I found another restaurant to compare his recipes to! It wasn't just his food that will leave a legacy beyond measure that still holds a lifetime measure to compare all other restaurants for me to search for. His soft spoken words and laughter had a way of bringing comfort to you just as his food did. 💕  Mi King Chop Suey will always be remembered by me with your Dad making it a welcoming place to sit, laugh, talk, and watch the family games underway each night. You can tell family and food brought him riches to cherish in life and were something that was most important to him. He will be missed greatly. Rest in peace Mr. Chung. 🖤
