OBITUARY

Mack F. Moody

26 October, 1935 – 26 August, 2024
IN THE CARE OF

Mount Auburn Funeral Home & Cemetery

Mack Freeman Moody, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024, in Naperville, Illinois after a long illness.

Son of Ludie Jane (Frederick) and Dewey Anderson Moody, Mack was born on October 26, 1935, in Mississippi. Mack moved to Chicago, Illinois in the mid-1950s. He married Dorothy Moore in 1957 and raised their three children in Cicero, Illinois.

Mack worked in water treatment for Reynolds Metals Company in McCook, IL for more than 30 years before retiring.

Mack was a wonderful husband and father. He was a gentle, hardworking, and dedicated man who loved his family. He had a great sense of humor and loved working on cars. He could fix anything that needed fixing. He loved watching pro wrestling and good cowboy westerns. His greatest joy was his grand-daughter Marissa. His greatest heartbreak was the loss of his son Eddie. He was the last remaining sibling out of seven. He missed them all so much, and we pray he is reunited with them, his parents, his son, and his wife of 63 years.

Mack loved dogs and had many as pets. He would say he did not like cats and that he wouldn’t have them in his house, but a pregnant stray would show up in his yard and he would make sure that she and her kittens were well fed and had a warm, safe place (and yes, sometimes in the house).

His loved ones will miss him forever. He was truly one of a kind.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, his son Edward, and his six siblings. He is survived by his son Gary (Valerie), daughter Rebecca, grand-daughter Marissa and countless nieces and nephews.

Services are private and will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney, IL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an animal rescue organization, as Mack rescued many animals.

A special thank you for the health care professionals and caregivers at Asbury Gardens Assisted Living in North Aurora, IL and Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville, IL. A very special thank you to Vicki Dirksen for treating our parents like her own.
