Mary R. Forsberg

Mary was born March 19, 1923 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to her parents Benjamin 'Flay' and Victoria Straight. She graduated from Richland Center High School in 1941.

On August 21st, 1948 she married the love of her life, Alfred W. Forsberg. They spent over 50 joyful years together until his passing in 1999.

Mary is survived by her children; Bill, Sandra, Jim (Beth), and Bob, her grandchildren; Lynnette (Dave), Michael, Kaitlin, Emma (Sean), and Luke, her great-grandchildren; Jack, Danny, and Mikey, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary had a number of careers before she became a full time mom to her children. She worked in both California and Madison, WI. She also worked for the Department of Agriculture during WWII in Washington, D.C., at the Spiegel's department store in Chicago, and also acted as a court reporter with her strong skills in typing and shorthand.

Mary loved to travel and would often take trips with her husband. They loved to revisit her home in Wisconsin and enjoyed many vacations there. She also loved to swim and spent many years going to Manor pool in Cicero and the Berwyn YMCA. Mary spent time enjoying nature and the outdoors while accompanying her husband who was an avid fisherman. As Mary grew older she remained independent and lived on her own after her husband passed. She continued to drive and run errands until the age of 91.

Her time with the church was very important to her. She was a devout woman who was a member at Cicero Bible Church since 1962. She was a long term resident of Cicero and loved her community.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Cicero Bible Church, 2230 S. Laramie Ave, Cicero, IL 60804. A funeral service will occur at Cicero Bible Church at 11:30 AM. A graveside service will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.
