I just learned of Mia's passing today (6/6/22). Mia was a wonderful lady. I saw her at on Sundays when we were both at Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park, IL. She will be missed by Glen & her family. God bless.

I will truly miss Mia's friendly smile and her kind and gracious spirit. She was always a joy to talk with and it will be hard to imagine her department without her. With the passing of my own mother only a few weeks past, I deeply empathize with your loss. I thank you Lord for the hope we have in you, and that in our deep sorrow and grief we can also have assurance and joy knowing her spirit is now with You. She touched so many lives and was a blessing to so many. I feel privileged to have called her my friend.

Mia and Glen have had a huge impact on my life. All the years of working together in the 80s in our adult Bible class, Mia always was happy to volunteer to help and lead in so many ways. They were such dear friends in taking me through some hard times and even though I’ve been in Europe now for 20 years, we still connect every time we come through Chicago. I enjoyed going through my photo album and seeing Mia’s smiling face at so many gatherings. I am sure she is smiling now being with our dear Savior Jesus. I am so privileged to have known Mia. Our prayers go out to Glen and the whole family.


I will so miss working with Mia at Moody. She was a part of every step in my journey at Moody from a student worker to a supervisor. Her warmth and kindness brightened my day every time I had the opportunity to see or talk to her. I appreciated that she saw me as an indivivual and engaged with me individually every time that I talked to her. To Mia's family, I pray that Christ will comfort you as you greive the loss of such an incredible woman. 

The comments made by others on this blog bring smiles to our faces because all the nice things that were said about Mia are true! We had 40+ years of friendship with her and developed many happy memories. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed. Mia’s joy is now completely in the Lord and in that we find our eternal hope.

I knew Mia through our years of working together on our Lane Tech class reunion committee.   She could always be counted on to get things done and always provided great insight to the group.  I learned over the years (often the hard way) that her mild demeanor was often contrasted by her quick wit especially when she’d occasionally hit me with a real zinger!   She was a wonderful lady and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing.  I will truly miss her.

Coming to America from Hong Kong in the 70's I was 4.5 years old.  What I remembered was how kind hearted Mia was.  The colorful clothes, fabric, polyester fabric bell bottoms, and large butterfly collar shirts.  I really enjoyed every minute being with Mia when I was in Chicago.  Fast forward to circa 1987 I went to visit after graduated High School.  I met up with Mia again and she took me around Chicago to see all the Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the neighborhood.  It was a cold day in Chicago when Mia drove me around that day.  It was so cold that day, when you breathed your lungs would freeze.  We went to Robie House but it was closed that day.  I ran out of her car and she took a picture of me sitting in front of the house, and I quickly ran back into the warmth of the car.

I really would have like to say goodbye and speak to her before she passed away, and tell her how fond I was staying with her family when I was a kid.

I am shocked to hear of this and saddened because I will miss Mia's joyful and gentle presence at Moody.  Mia always greeted me with a smile and an authentic welcoming spirit.  She made Moody feel more like home. She has been an encouragement to everyone who has walked through the door way of HR.  I will remember her with great joy and gratitude.

Our deepest condolences to the family on losing such a beautiful soul.  My brother, Hugh and I attended Lane Tech HS with Mia in the 70's.   When we first met Mia, our first impression was that she was so nice.   As time went by, she never changed and her gentle and kind nature was much appreciated.

We had such fun together as members of the Chinese Culture Club.  International Day was a day to goof off from class and share our culture with the entire student body, showcasing traditional  food, folk dance and martial arts exhibitions.  And the best part was socializing with all the clubs that participated. Those were indeed the days.   Youthful exuberance and just hanging out having fun.   And fun we had in the beautiful city of Chicago.

Mia touched many lives as the first face of Moody for new and prospective employees. Her impression on us was welcoming, peaceful and gentle. Mia will be sorely missed. May God's peace return upon her family, friends and colleagues that await reunion with her.

So sorry to hear this! Whenever I had occasion to go to HR, Mia was always there at the front desk with a smile and a few words, and always able to solve any problem, answer any question ... She was one of those wonderful "out front" representatives for Moody and quietly exhibited the light of Christ. She will very definitely be missed.

As a new employee at Moody, Mia was one of the first people I met.  She was so gracious, kind, and helpful with all of my questions and helping me get oriented.  But the more amazing thing to me was that she always called me by my first name when I stopped by her office or saw her on campus. And it surprised me that she remembered me.  

Mia also brought the heart of Christ into her words and the atmosphere she created as soon as you stepped into her office.  Human Resources should be a place of care and shepherding  of God's people who worked at Moody and Mia created that place 

May the God of all comfort, comfort and encourage Mia's family and friends in this time of her homegoing.  

Mia was the person I saw when I had to fill out all the paper work for my first ever job. She was so patient, caring and helped me with all of my questions. We had just had a heart felt conversation about how hard the pandemic has been. I am so sad to hear I won't see her smiling face at work again. She will be missed.

You are on our minds during this difficult time of Mia's death.  We will never forget how she quietly  but efficiently kept Calvary Memorial Church as well as Moody Bible's H.R. department running smoothly.  Mia is a true servant of the Lord who always went out of her way to  help others with a spirit of joy, and of course some humor that would put a smile on your face! May you receive God's ever lasting love and grace in the days ahead.

OH, how sad I am, to see that my friend in HR Mia will no longer be with us!  She was always a blessing to encounter in her pivotal role in the department. From my first visit to Moody as a job-seeker, I sensed her Christian love for people and her respect for those with whom she communicated.  Job-hunting is a sensitive task, and she seemed to know this, and always spoke with grace.  I will miss her.  I am glad to know that one day she will be greeting us in heaven, next to her Lord, with the same friendly demeanor she so faithfully demonstrated here on Earth.

Mia made me feel known and valued at Moody, even as a brand new  employee.  She sat with me at a lunch where I knew no one else even though there were many others she could have joined.  I will miss her!

Mia was the first person to welcome me to Moody! When I arrived at Moody for my interview, her warm smile and welcome instantly made me feel at ease.  After I was hired, she provided the same friendly welcome on my orientation day as she helped me navigate some of the first steps of employment with Moody. As I had the privilege to interact with Mia in the following years, I always appreciated her warmth and quick wit which always brought a  smile to my face! I will miss Mia's bright light  at Moody very much, and I pray for God to comfort her family at this difficult time. I find joy in knowing that Mia is with the Lord now, and look forward to the day we can see her again!

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Mia's passing.  Mia and I were classmates from our grammar school days at Stewart  School all the way to high school at Lane Tech.  We were both in band together.  I will always remember her as a sweet girl - with a friendly, caring disposition.  I have moved away from the Chicago area after high school so was not able to keep in touch much with her or other friends from Lane.  

My sincere condolences to her husband Glen and the rest of her family.  She will always be remembered with fondness by all who knew her.

I was so surprised to hear of Mia's passing and extend prayers for God's provision of peace and comfort to her family. She is a lovely person, now in the presence of her Savior.

My interaction with her was rather limited to HR concerns where she was always welcoming and friendly even in the face of many confused and often foolish questions (from me). But my wife worked with Mia more directly as a fill-in for her for a period of time when she was a student employee years ago. We are very sad to hear of her passing. We are rejoicing though in the hope of Christ's promises.

I interacted with Mia many times over the last five years, and always found her to be a Christ-like servant of the Lord. I am saddened to hear of her passing. I pray the Lord's supernatural comfort will bring solace to her family and friends.

Mia was always a delight to interact with. She literally always had a smile on her face and would go above and beyond to serve others. I only crossed her path a few times a year, but when I did it was always a great experience. I pray for peace for her close friends and family. May they find comfort knowing that she's with her Lord and Savior and they will see her again on Heaven one day. 

I remember Mia from Lane’s music program. She was sweet and kind of quiet so we would sometimes just walk around the school grounds or sit on the grass when the weather was nice. When we first met, she said to remember her name like “Me, a toy.” I will miss her. 

There are so many wonderful things I could say about Mia.  She always greeted you with a smile, addressed you by name, she was kind, patient, willing to serve and her presence will be sorely missed here at Moody.  Mia was a beautiful example of the love and light of of Christ.

Mia was a great lady.
Smart, kind, funny, thoughtful and professional. I could alway count on her for a warm smile when I went to the Human Resources Department. She made sure I was directed to right people with the right answers to all of my questions. 
She loved her church. She valued community and the preached word. She adored her husband.

I was shocked to hear of her passing.
Her death reminds us that life is but a vapor and we must overtly share  love with those around us.

My wife Jinsun and I met Glen and Mia back in 1998 when we all attended Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park and Mia helped to coordinate our friends’ wedding.  We quickly became good friends and we have enjoyed their friendship so much over the years since then.  We will always remember Mia as such a funny, sweet, intelligent and thoughtful friend and a true woman of faith in Christ.  No matter how much time would go by in between times when we could see or talk to each other, it would always seem like barely any time had passed when we would reconnect.  Mia and Glen were the kind of dear friends that we could always just pick up where we left off when we would reunite.  Her love for God and for others was always so evident and she was dearly loved by so many people.  We will always remember her as being so easy to talk to and so much fun to hang out with.  We loved reminiscing about old 70s music and old memories together.  Our only regrets are that we wished we could have seen her and Glen more often in recent years, and been able to spend more time together.  We are very saddened and shocked that God took her home at such a young age,  we will miss her so much, but we rejoice through our tears and sadness that she is experiencing indescribable joy with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We know that she is no longer suffering and she has a new cancer-free body in heaven.  This is our hope and comfort.  “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love Him” 1 Cor 2:9 

I don't know Mia at all,except through Glen. We know Glen and he is a good man. I know he loved Mia very much.  she will always be in his heart as well as her family and friends.

Mia was my dear friend, we met when she was  around 10 on a friends outing at the beach.  We met again when we were both at UIC.  Mia became a Christian and was in my Bible study on campus.  I love her gentle spirit, caring heart, seeking truths and her beautiful mind.  I will miss her very much and  regret not having more time with her.  No more suffering and pain.  Mia is in heaven and I know I will see my dear friend again.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Mia at Moody Bible Institute for the past 4 1/2 years. I’m going to miss her gentle spirit and amazing sense of humor, as well her servants heart. Her love for her husband Glen, her friends and family, and of course The Lord were always obvious when I was around her. There is nobody like Mia. Truly a great one gone so soon. Thankful she is with Jesus today 

What surprising news. Mia and I attended Lane's amazing music program. I remember her as quiet, studious and gifted. Prayers for the family and all fellow classmates as we bid farewell to another dear friend.

Condolences to Greg and Mia's family. Mia and I were good friends at Lane Tech many years ago. We played together in the orchestra and she was always sweet and kind, but she was also very witty. Once, during freshman year, she observed that all she saw in the hallways were couples, couples, couples. She quipped that the school should be called "Lovers' Lane". Years later, she and Greg invited another Lane Tech friend, Wendy, and me to visit at their home in Edgewater. She was a fantastic hostess, and she told us the reason she was so organized was that her father had a restaurant. She will be missed.
