She migrated from Mobile, Alabama to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1970s to create a better life for her and her family. She was a member of Christian Liberty Baptist Church, where she served in hospitality and was a member of the choir. She retired from Milwaukee County Department of Aging at the age of 55. She was joined in holy matrimony to James L. Didley. After his passing in 2019, she relocated to Stockbridge, Georgia, until God called her home.

In 1998, she moved back to Milwaukee to care for more of her grandchildren.
