She was born January 15, 1923, the daughter of the late Salvation Army Captain, Herbert E. Robins, Sr. and Emma Dorothy Robins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-eight years, James David Lemming; by her sister, Daisy Robins Britt; by two brothers, Herbert E. Robins, Jr. and William S. Robins.
She is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Harry) Pittman of Stockbridge, Ga; and Cheryl (David) Yarbrough of Peachtree Corners, GA; and her son David (Mary) Lemming of Huntington, WV. Also surviving are four grandchildren; John (Karen) Pittman of Newnan, GA; Rebekah (Jeremy) Shaffer of Huntington, WV; Jon David (Katie) Lemming of Dallas, TX; and Cristy (Richard) Walden of Marietta, GA; and by five great-grandchildren, Brooke Lauren Pittman, Grace Caroline Shaffer, Luke Charles Shaffer, Andrew Cashel Lemming and Annabelle Lois Walden; and by a host of nieces and nephews.
Dot, as her friends lovingly called her, served Jesus Christ faithfully in her generation and was a woman of deep faith who raised her children to follow the Lord. She loved and cared for the people in church, Sunday School class, and the communities where she lived. She visited the elderly and the sick in their affliction, bringing them comfort and offering them help in their moments of greatest need. She loved bookkeeping and worked in her son-in-law’s business for many years, taking care of the office accounting. She found fulfillment in gardening, swinging on her back porch, playing her piano, singing Gospel songs and reading her Bible, as well as spending time in prayer. Next only to her faithfulness to Christ was her faithfulness to her family and her husband. As the Bible says, “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her…Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” (Proverbs 21:28, 30)
Dot’s children would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice and to Sylvia Davis for the excellent care they helped provide in the days leading up to her home going. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 10 AM until the memorial service at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Rd in Stockbridge, GA.
