Eleanor Diane Hollingsworth, born February 7, 1943, went home to Heaven on June 1, 2019. She was at peace with her condition, because she has walked daily with the Prince of Peace for over 60 years. The impact of her life, her ministry to others, cannot possibly be contained in this little column. She was a loving wife, mother & (mother-in-law), memaw, and great memaw, sister, (and sister-in-law) and friend. If you are reading this, you probably received a card from her at one time or another, and though you will miss that greeting card your next birthday, I hope it will bring a memory of her to your mind, and will give you a smile. Because she loved to smile, and her joy and genuine love for you could not help but to make you smile. Mom loved her church- Mt. Zion United Methodist Church- and her community and was actively involved in them right up until the end. She was active in Gam-Anon, counseling many caught up in the addiction of gambling. She saw the best in you when you could not. This letter is so inadequate in describing the greatness of this godly woman. Two of her siblings summarized it in this way-“there aint none better”. But she would deflect that and say, “To God be the glory”. She would want you to know that Jesus is the source of her strength, joy, and peace and she would also want you to know Him as she did.
She was preceded in death by her husband GW “Doug” Hollingsworth III, her parents; Lloyd and Mozelle Wilhoit, brothers; Patrick Wilhoit, Lynn Wilhoit, and Jon Wilhoit.
She is survived by her son Scott Hollingsworth and his wife Allison, daughter; Donna McCane and her husband Steve, grandchildren; Kaci Hart, Tricia Mauk, Kristen Thomson, Amelia Harvey, Madeline Ware, Abby Turner, and great-grandchildren; Leah, Ellie, Hannah, Jovie, Maggie, and Simon; and her brothers; Wayne Wilhoit, Mike Wilhoit, Gary Wilhoit and sisters; Beth Williams, Jeri Trenova and Robin Jordan.
Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home located at 376 Fairview Rd in Stockbridge, GA 30281. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church located at 984 Panola Rd In Stockbridge, GA 30281. Interment will take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
