Hubert was born August 13, 1934 to the late Hugh and Ella Phillips in Plevna, Alabama. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. He went on to pursue a career in the automotive industry at Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after 32 years of service. After retirement, Hubert enjoyed building things, traveling, helping friends, watching Westerns and Atlanta Braves baseball.
In addition to his parents, Hugh and Ella Phillips, Hubert was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Phillips and two sisters, Ruth Holman and Mary Jane Phillips.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Clarice Phillips; daughter, Charisse Rhodes; son, Stephan Phillips; granddaughters, Lauren Lange, Abby Phillips, and Anna Phillips Evers; two brothers, Billy Phillips and Thomas Phillips; one sister Gennelle Mills; and a host of extended family, friends and his faithful pet, Duchesse.
A visitation of family and friends will be held for Hubert on Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. Immediately after the visitation will be a graveside celebration of his life followed by a committal service at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
