Jacqueline “Jackie” Laverne Frost, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was born on July 16, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a life marked by faith, service, creativity, and trailblazing accomplishment, she peacefully transitioned from this life on February 7, 2026.
Jacqueline was a woman of intellect, vision, and quiet strength. She pursued higher education with determination and excellence, earning both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati. Her academic foundation reflected her deep commitment to advocacy, compassion, and uplifting others.
In 1977, Jacqueline relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she began her professional career as a social worker, serving individuals and families with care and integrity. Guided by courage and entrepreneurial spirit, she later transitioned into business ownership, where she would leave an indelible mark on Atlanta's cultural and creative landscape.
Jacqueline became a pioneer and visionary entrepreneur, recognized as the first Black owner of a vintage clothing store in Atlanta's Little Five Points district. For more than 15 years, her store, “Days Gone By," stood as a celebrated destination for timeless fashion and artistic expression. Her eye for style and authenticity led her to open a second boutique, "Special Effects," through which she became affiliated with styling and providing wardrobe for prominent artists and music videos, including TLC, Pebbles, and Outkast. Through her work, Jacqueline helped shape visual culture while opening doors for representation and excellence in creative industries.
Above all her accomplishments, Jacqueline cherished her family and loved them deeply. She leaves to treasure her memory her devoted spouse, Larry Frost; her beloved daughter, Kelly Williams (Harold Williams); her cherished granddaughter, Kodi Tolbert; and her precious great-grandson, Noah Tolbert. She is also survived by her loving brother, Michael Hooks, and her dear niece, Amberly Hooks, and her spouse Larry Frost along with a host of extended family members and friends who were blessed by her wisdom, grace, and generosity of spirit.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Gwendolyn Hooks-Hillman; her sister, Stephanie Williams; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends whom she loved dearly and now rejoins in eternal rest.
A woman of faith and quiet resolve, Jacqueline lived her life with purpose, dignity, and a servant's heart. Her legacy of compassion, creativity, and courage will continue to inspire generations to come. Though she has answered the call to rest, her influence remains alive in every life she touched.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
