James Carlton Evans

James is survived by his children, Gloria Ann Rigsby, William Dorman Evans (Sydena), Carlton Eugene Evans, (Nancy Lynn), Perry Kenneth Evans, Nancy Elizabeth Reeves, (Ken) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mary Elizabeth Evans, James was preceded in death by one daughter Patricia Elaine Lewis and one grandson Larry Gene Brock.

James is a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He loved gardening, he had tomato vines that were almost 6 ft. tall and full of tomatoes. He also loved flowers and had many different kinds around his home. He retired from Delta Air Lines at age 62, where he painted airplanes and spent his last years before retirement working in the upholstery shop. After retirement, he spent most of his time gardening, doing chores around the house, helping his wife Mary and he always had time to go visit the sick. He will be greatly missed.

A visitation and reception will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 11:00AM - 1:30PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, GA 30281. A celebration of his life will begin at 1:30PM in the chapel of Ward's Funeral Home, immediately followed by a graveside committal service at Fairview Memorial Gardens | 164 Fairview Road Stockbridge, GA 30281.
