

James Dewey Gillespie, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2025. He was born on September 20, 1936, in Gainesville, Georgia, to George Dewey Gillespie and Margaret Clementine Jones Gillespie.
James was deeply loved and respected by many. A master craftsman, he ran a successful denture business for over 70 years—passing on his skill, knowledge, and dedication to his children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren. Through his work, he quite literally brought smiles to countless faces, and his legacy lives on through the generations he taught and mentored.
A true artist at heart, James brought creativity and care to everything he did. He was an accomplished painter and sculptor with a special talent for floral arrangements. He cherished the time he spent painting with his grandchildren, encouraging them to embrace both creativity and hard work in their own lives.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Cenie Gillespie; his second wife, Patricia Hegwood Gillespie; his sons Brent Gillespie, David Gillespie, and Harold Gillespie; his daughter Robin Gillespie; and his grandson Jason Trammell.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Price Gillespie; his daughter, Teresa Spencer, and son-in-law Geoff Spencer; his grandchildren Rusty Gillespie, Cenie Marie Trammell, Brent Gillespie, Cole Gillespie, Erica Hester, and Gage Gillespie; as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
James lived a life full of purpose, passion, and love. He will be remembered always for his artistry, his generosity, and the deep devotion he had for his family.
Services will be held at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 01:00 p.m. with funeral following. Entombment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
