Kathleen Y. Griffin

Mrs. Kathleen Youmans Griffin, 93, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, passed away Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at Golden Crest of Eagles Landing in Stockbridge, Ga.

She was born August 28th, 1923 in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Jordan Clinton and Kate Warren Youmans. She graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1940. She and her husband, Joseph Griffin, owned and operated a dry cleaning business for many years in Hinesville, Georgia. She was later employed and retired from the Dekalb County Police Department.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Griffin of Oak Park, Georgia, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, J.C. Youmans (Inez) of Lexsy, Ga, and Waldo L. Youmans (Evelyn) of Swainsboro, Georgia.

She is survived by four daughters, Carol A. Griffin (Dave Gibson) of Destin, Fl,; Kay G. West of Ellijay, Ga,; Brenda G. Hodges of Woodstock, Ga,; and Kathie Brantley (Dane) of Stockbridge, Ga. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tracie W. Drake (Walter), Ken Brantley (Janet), Brandon West (Melisa), Greg Hodges, and Jessica Brantley, along with seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20th in the Chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with a special friend of the family Mr. Ramon Garcia, providing the tribute to our Mom.

Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Lexsy, Georgia the day after the service.
