She met and married the love of her life in Dora D. Gardner. As they began a family and traveled around the world, she would work at the exchange stores on the military bases. She retired from the Air Force Exchange.
For many years, she and her husband made and sold ceramics at the Flea Market on Highway 41 in Acworth, Georgia. They would enter into competitions and always win 1st Place. The two of them together were just great people.
For many years, she volunteered at the National Archives. At the time, she was the longest active volunteer.
Mary's life will forever be honored and cherished by her children, Geneva R. Norwood of Hampton, Georgia, Michael L. Gardner (Rita) of Marietta, Georgia, Patricia L. Steadham of Leesburg, Florida and Sarah J. Knauss of Paducah, Kentucky; brother, Donald Lee Orman (Joyce) of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a host nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 2:00PM-3:00PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 with a Celebration of Life beginning in the chapel at 3:00PM.
