Mildred Watson Baker

Born November 7, 1955, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Claude E. Shadix Sr. and Doris A. Shadix. She attended Roosevelt High School and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles, daisies, flamingos, and loved her dogs. She will be remembered for her warm smile, welcoming hugs, and her spur of the moment trips.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Baker, Sr. (Stockbridge); siblings, Arthur Todd (Locust Grove), Claude Shadix Jr. (Rex), Virginia Shadix Bartlett (Jonesboro), and Inez Shadix (Houma, Louisiana); children, John R. Baker, Jr. (Newnan), Gloria D. Donoghue (Stockbridge), and Crystal J. Fagant (Winder); 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nephews, Ernest Kadel and Mike Brand; niece, Elaine Brand; numerous other nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews; pets, BamBam, Cinnamon, Snickerdoodle, Buddy, and Charlie. She was predeceased by her sisters, Shirley Todd Brand and Shirley Shadix Bennet.

The memorial service will be held at Horis A. Ward- Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 1:00PM followed by a graveside burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

The viewing will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, from 4:00PM-7:00PM. There will also be a viewing on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, beginning at 12:00Noon until the time of the service. All are welcome to attend, masks are required.
