Peggy Joyce Atkins

Peggy was married to the love of her life for fifty-seven years.

She was the Mother of two, Grandmother of four.

Nurse to many in orthopedics at Southern Regional for twenty-nine years.

She loved Jesus and always put Family First.

Peggy showed her love for all by baking cakes and cookies for everyone!

She was a devoted church member to Living Word Worship Center and previously to Ash Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed nature, watching the birds, and daily phone calls with loved ones and friends. She would pray for anyone she could and she never missed a chance to wave at the neighbors or a car passing by.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parent’s Mrs. Gladys Jackson Bush Melton & Mr. Frank Bush. Her siblings, Mr. George Frank Bush, Mr. James Curtis Bush, Ms. Virginia May Bush “June”, & Gloria Ann Bush-Scott. Lastly, her daughter, Mrs. Kimberly Atkins Gramlich.

Peggy is survived by her devoted husband, Mr. Jesse Ray Atkins. Her Daughter, Mrs. Leigh (Dain) Neal. Her son in law Joe (Victoria) Olgesby-Green. Her grandchildren, Mr. Kenneth Roberts, Mrs. Andrea (Mitch) Pangallo, Ms. Faith Neal, Mr. Jeremiah Olgesby-Green. Her brother Buddy Melton and her twin sister Linda Driscoll. She also is survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 9, 2026 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 9, 2026 from 11:00 am until service time.
