Ronald Jimmy Mitchell

The son of Gaines Gadsen Mitchell and Nadine Julia Cox and brother of Quentin, all deceased, Ron is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Wilkes Mitchell, and two adult daughters Rebecca Lynn Mitchell and Jennifer Mitchell Eason, her husband Mike Eason, and one grandson Chappel Richard Weiss.

Ron constructed his life around God, family, and country, and impressed everyone he met with his single-minded, driven purpose to enrich those around him. He worshipped at People’s Baptist Church where he was a member for 45 years, serving as deacon, and always ready to help with anything the church needed.

Aside from his immediate family, Ron cultivated families at church and work. He faithfully executed his duties at Dealers Supply Company, and over a career spanning 38 years, he rose from an entry-level position to Senior Vice-President of Operations. After retiring, Ron spent his time riding on his tractor and working with his grandson, fishing and enjoying music with his daughters, and watching endless episodes of Gunsmoke with his wife.

After graduating from high school where he won the state championship in the one mile run, Ron enlisted in the Navy, touring the world for five years, including a stint on an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War. With his zest for living life to the fullest, Ron will be sorely missed.

A visitation of family and friends will be held for Ronald on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of his life will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in Ward's Chapel. A graveside committal service will take place on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Walker Cemetery, Montgomery County, Georgia.
